Facial Trauma

Facial Trauma

Facial trauma includes:

  • Facial or oral lacerations
  • Fractured bones
  • brooken teeth x rayKnocked out teeth

Facial trauma may result from incidents such as

  • Car accidents
  • Falls
  • Sports injuries
  • Industrial work accidents
  • Violent attack

In the case of skin lacerations often sutures are sufficient to repair wounds. In the event of bone fractures surgery may be required. Since our nose, chin and front teeth are very prominent in our facial structure, they commonly become injured during  facial trauma. If you break a tooth as a result of a sporting accident you may need a tooth extraction and dental implant.

Patients should consult with an experienced New Jersey Maxillofacial Oral Surgeon to learn about the best methods to repair and rehabilitate your facial trauma injuries. Dr. Calat provides the proper treatment of facial injuries and is well versed in emergency care, acute treatment, long-term reconstruction, and rehabilitation.
